Okily dokily............... As many of you know I shut my big tank down due to time constraints earlier this year sooooooo............. I decided to down size. I have had the tank for some time from StarfishEnterprise which myself and @Gedmin picked up.

The tanks details are :

48inches long
30 inches front to back
15 inches tall

Bit of a change from my last two set ups! The idea behind this tank is to do something a bit different and try to keep myself entertained whilst playing emails and doing paperwork.

I decided that I was going to try a shallow reef tank and although I didn't want to get a tank yet I seen this one a figured it's perfect so why not, I'm in no rush to set it up so this can only work in my favour as I know this fella who has been setting his up for ages and using that time to do it right. Ish.

A pic of the tank from when I picked it up.....................

The idea is to have an internal sump across the back of the tank with a skimmer, heater and dsb. I will also have a closed loop system in there so no powerheads or pipes inside the tank space. I will be using a GHL independent doser for calcium, magnesium and kh, 4x54w T5 (maxi bright) for lighting and a yoyo for when I get bored.

Stage 1: Prepare for sumpthing

As the above pics show the base of the tank has been drilled previously and due to my fear of leaking through there I felt it would be for the best if I covered them up.

I ordered some glass and black silicone for the sumping and cover glass.

Stage 2: Make a pretty pattern

With the materials now in my possession and a bit more time to spare I decided that I would make a start and continue my mission to annoy the wife :whistling:

I silicone the base plate in position with a rather dashing pattern

Stage 3: CBA with stages...........

After letting the base plate set I added the dividing panel for the sump, the panel has 3 inlets and 4 outlets (sump = 2 in and 2 out, CLS 1 in 2 out)

No Idea why it's upside down but I shall do some reading up on defying gravity and make it work :thumbup1:

I continued with the silicone just to get a bit higher than I already was off the fumes by adding some baffles and because I had ordered the wrong size had to use around 4736 tubes of silicone. I added the acrylic cover to the sump divider to hide the filtration.

Just need to do my all time favourite plumbing which I picked up today and every single bit was wrong @PhytoBall it's all your fault.

So here is where I'm at now with it

I will update in a (blank) or so when I get the correct plumbing and time to do it

This is going to be another @[email protected] build, make sure you have a sleeping bag, and a place booked in an old persons home with internet access. ;)

Good luck Liam.

Nah, I'll figure it out and pop down again dude. Maybe even tomorrow if I get time :thumbup1:

My last 2 tanks have been 120x24hx30 and 115x30hx24 so this is a culture shock! I had a gander at your thread a while back and liked that too dude!
If you look closely there is a bottle of water in one of the pics which I intend to mature for 2-3 years so the system cycles quicker, does that count? :whistling:

Cheers dude, a lot depends on a lot really to define a timescale for setting this up.
I can see the light already........
Did the rocking chair arrive as described or was it a different colour?

Who is reefphyto?? Is that who you were playing star wars with in the car park at burscough?
Ofcourse it will go to plan, how can it not when there is no plan
I have no idea what you're on about.............
