OK, as has been the case recently I'm going to start my new tank thread before I even get close to setting it up...........

It's going to be an LPS dominated tank with a couple of Monti plates, so..........

    1. Will I still need a doser?
    2. Will still need cheato in the sump?
    3. Will I need 2 radions (depending on aquascaping?)
    4. Probably going to keep both............but 2 MP40's?

    5. I'm I going to need to get a skimmer ("dirtier" tank)?

Imo keep the equipment. Youve forked out for it and if you do change you mind you have the gear. Saves loosing money on it.

    1. Prob not to begin with. But worth having at the ready.
    2. If thats the method of nutrient export your wanting then no issue.
    3. I wud
    4. I wud
    5. Up to you. Not entirely necessary as you know your system isnt dependant on it.

Think you need an FTS of now to show the start of the re-vamp

Glad to see you're still going roger...I saw the sales thread first. Why the change? As above, keep everything you've got.

    Hi Matt......reason:

Death dealing Cyano/Algae hybrid that grows on EVERYTHING. God help you if you slightly damage a coral - it will grow on that too.

Been trying to get rid for 6 - 8 months, you think you've got it beat and back it comes, well I've had enough.

Gonna kill off the LR and start again with LPS, this will give me a bit of leeway with parameters where we are away (neighbour looks after the tank then).

I want to enjoy the hobby, not bloody hate like I have recently.

If I'm honest, I'm going to miss some of the SPS's...........but I have to be realistic, LPS are easier to keep and that's what I need right now.

Need to get some ideas for aquascaping.........I want to do something different again, but avoid what I have right now, although I like the idea of LR away from all the glass again.

From the advice above I'm going to keep all the equipment.

I'm fine about what to do with the Radions (wind them down to around 50%) but could do with some advice about the % of power setting for the MP40's............

I want to keep both for a diverse flow, but also want to keep the likes of scollies, and I couldn't with the SPS flow requirements as the amount of flow gradually pulled the flesh out of the skeleton.

    So any ideas on settings?

I would put them on 40% each and see what the flow is like and obviously adjust them either up or down as required. I presume you will be using them synced together.
I just have 1 mp20 on my cube but that is on about 65-70%

Roger imo you wont need 2 x mp40, one will do a great job in a 2ft lps cube, another bonus is you have always got a spare,

The trouble is Pete, because I have a central external weir, a single pump would need to go off centre, and would create a continuous vortex in the tank, a second stops this and also creates diverse flow.

Can't you just put the Vortech on pulse and have the LPS sway in the small wave ?
