I discovered this story last night on another forum, It is very sad. A fellow reefer is selling up to raise money for his boy to have an operation so he can walk again hopefully. The guy needs 55k which is an immense amount of money, fingers crossed they make it. He's put his tank up on eBay.

Some people have donated already, majority of it on just giving so far has come from the reefing community. If you are interested in helping out the poor lad there's some links below. One of which is the just giving link to donate.

50+ reviews and 1 reply, looks like the kid really does have things stacked against him. :(

It sickens we as to why they even have to pay 55k for the operation ! it should be free. This country is in such a mess its unbelievable.

I hope they overcome this struggle.

As an employee of the NHS I can assure you the fact that this lad can only get this treatment abroad annoys most NHS employee's. The Op itself is nothing new but our wonderful coalition government will continue to strip the NHS to the bone and restrict such exclusive op's. When it all becomes unsustainable then the receiver is now called in as per London a few weeks ago. Some services around the country are already being quietly privatised.

£55k is not a big amount regarding the Op and aftercare. When we all end up going private your eye's will water at the medical insurance premiums charged.

i agree Paul, Its just a shame that we live in a world where not only do some families have to overcome problems like this but furthermore have to raise 55k in order to help their son to walk. It should be free, people shouldnt make profit from saving and sustaining lives, they should do it for the sakes of being a decent human being. Really upsets me that people are deprived from life saving treatment and medication purely becuase they can afford it.

Every little helps so for a couple of hours on a Sunday to do my bit doesn't phase me in the slightest nor does it make me brave

Anyway I'll get something setup so I can get a few donations (if TSB admins/mods are ok with that?)

I've donated, as Aaron says, even if it's just a couple of quid, then it will be a few pound closer to getting the money.
