Hi I’m just doing a fishless cycle the old way. I know you have to stock plenty to keep aggression down, can I put as many as I want in the first time in a new cycled tank. Or take it easy to see how ammonia and nitrites are?

I had Malawi's a few years back.....what info are you looking for?

I started with the fishless cycle and added bacteria, but then just made sure i fed the tank for a few weeks with flake to ensure the bacteria could grow.

I was also advised to add plenty at once ... but didnt really have the cash to throw a massive bunch in at once, I never had any real issues adding slowly... just make sure they have plenty of rocks to hide in etc

Started my Mbuna tank a few months ago, it is so easy and cheap compared to salty, wish i'd done it years ago.
