Hi all after being away for a few years I'm looking at buying a new tank can anyone recommend the best shops to go, I live in Bury and have noticed Cockfields farm has now closed the aquatic side leaving me cascade in Bury, Oasis in Manchester, had a look over at abyss last week any other places good for tanks?

Thanks
Wayne

Burscough aquatics is the best of the bunch imo mate. I like oasis too. Abyss is not for me personally.

What size tank you after? I have a Red Sea reefer 350 and can't speak highly enough of them. The evolution aqua range is a similar product so prob worth a look too.

Corals direct in Warrington is a great shop too but doesn't stock tanks as far as I'm aware. Certainly none on display.

Very similar tbh. They can be taller and deeper I think and have adjustable sumps. Similar in price I believe. Go have a look though. Steve has both out at burscough. I'm slightly biased as I own a Red Sea but for me they just seemed a bit more refined in build quality. Every edge met perfectly etc.

Had a look at the red sea tanks today was between the reefer 350 and the Max E 260 shop advised me to get the 350 as it's cheaper once you add the additional sump, pumps and skimmer to the 260

I would look at...
fishstreet advertiser on here
jecod6000lph dc return pump... approx 60
2x rw8 wavemakers again youll save money using fishstreet
Skimmer you could find second hand for £50 ish or coralbox skimmers are almost carbon copy for cheaper
Po4 reactor again cheaper on fishstreet.

What i would do is ask oasis for a decent discount if your buying everything in one go if not you can reduce that bill by at least £200 using fishstreet.

If you also want lps zoa and softies have a look at shark a80 x 2 great lights for lps and zoas

I would say have a look on anothUR forum first.... theres someone selling a full reefer 425xl setup with everything

to be honest there's nothing wrong with mine I just think it's better suited for a 60cm tank rather then 80cm. it's growing my zoas mini maxi nem green bubble tip nem fine. and keeping the colour on a green digi not much growth though

HVe you considered buying a reefer 350 from someone closing down their system, can get some cracking bargains.

Also something like radions or a NYOS skimmer from a fellow reefer can be 50% of new and will do the job.

Just a thought

I agree. I got two radion gen3 pros for £500 last week so bargains are there to be had.
