Featured Storing water in bin HELP!!

    Hey,
    i need to store some fish water in a bin for a couple hours while i move the tank, however CAN I USE A NORMAL REFUSE BIN FROM B AND Q?? it doesnt say its food safe though and i cant find a bin that says it is.

    What happens if chemicals leak into the water ?

    I did think of it releasing off some toxins, i have 2 24 litre barrels already but i needed to put my live rock in something aswell and keep them wet :S
    heard alot of people talking about bins and that but i cant find any that say there 'food safe'

    Safer to buy a batch of food grade 25l barrels mate

    Get some of those storage tubs from the range or asda etc I am getting some for saturday when I change over tanks

    dont know if you have a wilkinsons near you ? they sell 25lt containers for home brewing for only £8 each

    i wish we did, my parents do but there 100 miles away haha,
    got one about 25 miles away, might have to take a trip and hope they have some

    do you recon the plastic storage boxes (you keep toys and stuff in) would be ok to use?

    thanks, i cant see a problem with them, they wont release any chemicals off them, only going to be an hour or 2

    Bought a 30 litre storage bin from Tescos last summer with lid. Cost about £8

    Thats the ones I am getting, the range do the 80 litre ones for £7.99 and Asda do some for £5 but not sure what size they are.

    I was really naughty when I did my initial fill.
    I used a recycling bin.
    I filled 20% with RO, scrubbed it and rinsed it out with RO.
    Left the RO running overnight.
    TDS was zero.
    I wouldn't advise this at all but every once in a while I break the rules because I want to feel naughty.
