So, Merser is closing down his house tank while he moves and gave me the opportunity of taking/babysitting some corals for him. I also managed to stick down a few which have been on the sandbed too long as I have been too lazy to get the milliput out

Nipped up to my LFS, Kraken Corals on Saturday for some Peppermint shrimps to tackle my aip outbreak. Took 3 home and, once in, I havent seen them since. I might get the red torch out tonight after lights out, see if I can see them doing their thing.

Whilst at Kraken, they had a deal on frags for black friday, 3 for £30, so picked up a nice green millipora, a lovely ice blue tenius which looked to have yellowy tips coming through, and a random pale one, which also looks to be tenius of some kind

Update. Had a few issues recently, some of the new mini colonies started to strip, as did some stylo. I couldnt figure it out, was dosing a bit of bicarb everyday, trying to keep Kh at 8. Then I picked up some peppermints to deal with my aip infestation. Checked the Sg from the shop. 1.029!!! Jesus, thats a bit high. Dripped them for around 30 mins and popped them in. Then double checked tank, showing 1.026.

Then I decided to check refractometer with RO....... -4!!! I've calibrated it with the RO, and slowly brought the tank back up to 1.026, re-checking the calibration every time with RO where its been bang on zero before testing water. Maybe that was the issue? anyways, some pics:

Nice setup, you can't beat a nice bargain!

Also you have some stunning Sps!

You will have to check out my Thread as I am getting up the same tank that I got the other day from my LFS.

Any picture of your sump please!

I am in the process of setting mine up and could do with a few ideas.

The sig sump is a pain in the dick. Mine goes:

Drain, no filter sock anymore.
Into next small chamber which houses the cheato
Then into first large chamber where the skimmer and first heater are.
Then final chamber which has the return pump, phos reactor and secondary heater

Oh nice layout you have but have you got the standard sump? It's smaller then mine lol.

I am thinking about adding mineral mud in my sump with cheato.

Yeah, mine is the standard sump, but it's in a larger home made cabinet, so may look smaller. The sig sump kinda goes round in a circle, unless you have a different set up? Can you upload a pic of yours?

Well, despite having fingers crossed, it seems the yellow wanted the CBB to know he was the boss of the tank and the aggression continued. This was also scaring the firefish into hiding due to the fast paced movements of the tang, so the fish trap went in. Yellow wasnt so stupid though, and it took nearly a week for him to actually get far enough in the trap for me to snap it shut.

I took him back to Corals Direct who gave me some store credit. I'm sure he will find a suitable home........ or end up in their corals trays.

After umming and ahhring (much to Ahmed's dissmay I bet) for about an hour, I finally settled on his replacement. A Juv Purple tang. He is about the size of a 50p and given he is new to the tank, has displayed zero signs of aggression yet. He is happily following the clowns around and pecking the rocks for algae. The firefish are back out, the CBB seems happy too.
