received the light today only had a quick play with it so not going to make too many comments about that just yet.
I will do the review based on if I had bought the light at the current price of just under £300.
the light it's self looks very nice, feels sturdy the bracket is made out of stainless steel bar with height adjustable slots and also in and out for the light unit it's self which iv not seen before and is a great idea. the bracket seems very sturdy thick plastic base for mounting to the tank decent size screws to clamp it with and also some plastic spacers so it dosent create a pinch point on the glass. the only criticism iv got over the bracket is the cable mounting isn't great however it's not terrible. another great idea is the light is screwed onto a small bracket which has a ball and socket joint so the light can be swivelled around and set at a angle which is another nice feature.
the light has 6 channels of control and uses cree leds which you dont really see in the cheaper units. there are 8 different leds 6 x cool white 6500K, 2 x warm white, 8 x royal blue 460nm, 4 x blue 480nm, 2 x red 520nm, 2 x green 620nm, 4 x purple (uv) 405nm, 2 x bright blue ( i think this is the multichip).
i did have to modify the bracket as the slot wasnt long enough so the light was sat over the front of the tank rather then the middle (front to back) i did some measurements then drilled a 7mm hole in the centre of the bracket where i would need the light to sit. for 99% of tanks the bracket would be fine but with my tank only being 15inches from front to back.
a couple of quick pictures I will update this at weekend once iv had a play with the light it's currently on setting 1 which is for lps.
I'll also update the pictures with a brief description when I get chance probably weekend in all honesty.
heres the box with some info on the front i didnt take picture of packaging but it was well packaged and arrived free from damage via royal mail 48hr tracked.
inside the box everything packaged up thick foam around the light unit and all other parts to the light.
this is the stainless steel bracket which looks very sturdy the short side is where you mount the light unit and the longer side where the tank mount bracket goes
side view of the tank bracket as you can see its made from thick plastic it feels very solid
tank bracket form the front showing the screws you mount to the glass with
light unit and controller next to my nexus 7 tablet for size reference
rear view with nexus 7 tablet for size reference
the light mounted over the tank it looks quite smart and well designed over a tank just the cable could be a bit neater imo. might be able to tidy it up a bit better but we will see.
side view of the unit.
closer picture of the unit its self and the plug which could be a bit smaller but thats me being picky i think
the leds on custom setting 1 when ramping down just to show the colours the light unit has. the multichip leds are on either side and on there own provide quite alot of light without the centre puck being lit. the 4 very dim leds are UV they are only set very low as its ramping down. the 2 'yellow'
leds are warm white its just my phone pics them up yellow.

so its weekend and iv had a little play with the light unit. my inital thoughts are its good quality unit and the fan hardly ever comes which could be todo with the large aluminum heatsink on th back of the unit and when the fan does come on its fairly quiet.
pro's so far:
6 individual channels to control to create a good colour balance
a good looking light unit thats slim
2 preset programs and a manual mode
sturdy stainless steel bracket with plastic brackets to attach to the tank
ball joint attachment from the bracket to the light which allows it to be set at various angle's
good english instructions with pictures
cons:
the cable management could be neater but isnt terrible comes supplied with cables ties and 2 holes pre drilled in the bracket
no buttons on the unit so if the remote is lost you cant change anything ir no control via a app or pc
only 9 set points per day but these can be set to the minute rather then 1hour or 30mins like other lights.
iv had to change the custom 1 etting as there wasnt really a moonlight setting which i like to run morning and night and also the unit will run all night unless you set the last set point to all channels on 0 found this out today as my light was on at 5am when i went to work.
my corals seem to have responded instantly there all open/swelled up (if thats the right word) alot more the zoa heads on the darth mauls are touching each other where as before there where gaps.
the colour this unit provides straight from the box (custom 1) is great it dosent look washed out like some other presets iv seen/used before.
i will put up some pictures tomorrow as iv taken out most of my zoas ready for catching the eel tomorrow as i didnt want to end up loosing any of them or killing them.
