Common name: Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp Scientific name: Lysmata amboinensis (De Man, 1888) Synonyms: N/A Location: Indo/Pacific region Adult size: 5cm / 2" Recommended aquarium size: 45L (10Gal UK) Longevity: (likely life span in aquarium with excellent care). Availability: Both wild caught and captive bred Temprament: These shrimp are peaceful. They are best kept in pairs. Reef safe: Yes Difficulty: 1 Food and feeding: In the wild they are scavengers and will eat any foods that fall to the bottom of the tank, they will pick at algae and detritus on live rock and can also perform cleaning services on fish. Temperature range: 24-28C (75-82F) Additional notes: Inverts have a very limited ability to deal with changes in their environment. It is very important to slowly acclimatize them to any new environment. Compare the water chemistry between the water from the LFS and your tank before introducing them; the greater the differences in salinity and pH the slower the acclimatization process needs to be to avoid stressing the shrimp.
