Sorry I still don't agree.

So what you are saying that there isn't any safe plastics out they at all?

Can you provide any articles on the matter please?

not such thing as a safe plastic, all plastic carries some sort of nasty chemicals ...
research from various world wide boffins are due to update there information and new studies from
as far back to 2010 and 2014 and are due to be published end of 2017.
also bisphenol a is one of the worlds highest produced chemical .
global warming will not destroy the oceans, plastic will...
all of the above is a fact !

Global warming is having an adverse effect on corals, plastic is having an adverse effect on marine life that eats it/gets stuck in it. There's an awful lot of it in the ocean and yes some of it must be toxic, but I'll leave that for the professionals to research and then tell us that we're all doomed, or that by removing it we may be saved :)

I applaud Dan @Jagger for this thread as it gives some good info on plastic types that allows us then to make informed decisions/choices and as he says he will update us with articles as and when as regards leaching (which he's seen on other sites), thus again allowing us to make choices.

All of us have plastic in our systems and can't help it...........as reactors, skimmers and pumps are all made of the stuff (as well as some tanks). Acrylic is a form of plastic

If we all agreed on stuff, life (and this forum would be very dull)

We don't need to agree :)

What makes us special is that we are all different and have/and are all entitled to our own opinions :D

Now I'm off to join the peace corps :p :risas3::risas3::risas3::risas3: :icon12:

Thank you,I have come across this thread years ago and I thought why not put it on here to alert people ect.

Also you are spot on Steve about plastic is ever where, like skimmers pumps ect ect
Also last and not least acrylic there is plastic in that, know as Poly(methyl 2-methylpropenoate)

so that's why there is safe plastics out.

I do agree it would be boring if he agreed on the same discussion!
