Cost and customs. Cities bans certain exports of the really rare stuff too.

Ah, makes sense. Would have to b a sizeable order to make the transport costs worthwhile. Also exchange rate has probably increased cost by 10 to 15% too.

Not completed a water change for a couple of weeks so just done a 20% change and checked parameters

Cal 400
Alk 8.4
Nit 5
Phos 0.045

Looks ok ish so increased cal dose by 0.5ml to 9.5 and nopox by 0.5 to 12.5ml per day.

During past couple of months I have been adding Red Sea foundation b powder to RO over a week to supplement liquid dosing and seems to work as alk is flat at 8.4. Had a spare pot and cheaper than liquid dosing so may continue when spare pot has finished.

Hi Paul, did you check your parameters before WC?

Parameters look great, let the chalice grow!

I always worked with dry ballingsalts, much cheaper indeed ane you can make a max. sollution.

For information, the recepies I used on 5l osmosis:
294 gr CaCl2
70 gr MgCl2 (depends on Mg use)
Together in one canister.

332 gr ChNaO3
In a different canister.

125 gr Ch free mineral salt to set ionical balance.

I'm always a little suspiciously about ready-to-use solutions. The more water the can put in, the more profit they make. Used to do p&d in a fruit factory, the more water they could bind the better...

Checked before, always do that to be consistent too.

I use the Red Sea liquid for alk and cal and been happy using them both since tank was set up. Do supplement with powder from time to time.

Thanks for the info and I hope the chalice grow grow grow

Had considered dosing with the RS liquids, but wasn't sure it was the wisest way to go, if I was going to dose. Interesting that they're working for you and yours.

Absolutely, I have been using since I started dosing and levels are consistently good and stable.

I also use Red Sea coral pro salt which has elevated levels so should be ok.

I have not had to dose magnesium for some reason but not complaining as saves money.

Interesting again, I did use the Coral Pro salt but found it gave me ridiculous Mg levels. I use the 'standard' Red Sea Salt now Still find my Mg is around 1400+ and can't seem to see it reduce in any decent amount. I've not had to dose any C for as long as I can remember. Must be a quirk of Red Sea stuff.

As you say Red Sea salt must have elevated mag but not seen any adverse affect on tank so will carry on using.

Excuse the quality of the picture but I have just noticed that my blue tipped acropora Formosa is growing out of the water.

About an inch or so is usually out of the water when pump goes into feed mode or during water change but surprised it is now growing above water level. Only about 3 to 5mm above water but is this common?
