Thought I would start this thread as thanks to tyger on his thread I have ordered myself a custom aquarium.

Sump will be on the rear.
Tank dimensions are 42 x 15 x 15

No hood, have ordered sliding glass covers tho.

12 weeks lead time.... God I don't think I can wait that long :(

This will be my first ever custom built tank so u can imagine the levels of my excitement :D

And I can't decide how I'm going to fill it .. It will take too long to fill with r.o water.. So I'm playing with the idea of filling it with tap water waking a load of reef salt.. And cycling it so the cycle will take out all of the nasties...

Can you do that? If so I think I'll need to do that as well as my ro is nowhere near the tank so can't fill directly. Would have to keep filling and emptying my containers

You can but the more traditionalists frown upon it .. But the nitrogen cycle will take out no3... You can run rowaphose in a bag in your sump.. For the phos for a while..

I've not got the exact measurements back with me mate I'll have to go over my 3d drawings again and try to remember what was discussed with the shop.
What I do know is the sump part will be 5 3/4" from the rear of the tank so that should leave me about 10" width...well actually just under but I don't have huge amounts of room to work with so its going to be narrower than I am used to but I reckon it'll be worth it. Like yours the majority of lr will be in the sump compartment as I want most swimming area I can get for fish.

That's why I asked 15" - 5 3/4" leaves a 9 1/4" DT ....a bit narrow lol.

Thankfully the guys building it are quick to get back. So have adjusted width to 19" that way once sump divider is in I'll have 14 1/4" for the fish.
