Hi i knew i wouldnt take long before i was asking for help

My problem is ive just restarted my tank and i cant remember if this happened the first time round but i have a sort of browny red slimey blanket algea type stuff growing all over the sand and started climbing up the glass and on the rocks ,

ive tried syphoning some out,ive cut back my metal halide lighting but still everyday it grows thicker

any ideas would be a great help

no it just looks nasty in the tank.
just make sure its not getting all over your corals. i had this for months.
the thing to do is see if you can get your lfs to tell you what salt they use.
i also think if you but a powerhead low down in the tank it may slow it down a bit. good look . :)

i have a powerhead low down for filtration to blow through the live rock
so would it help if i started to make and use my own salt water?
what are the better brands out there?
i really dont want to mess this up.

i no buying it from a lfs is easy way to do it. but if you make up your own salt miz you no what your putting in.
the best two salts r sea sea coral pro and d&d h20.
i use the d&d stuff. hope this helps.
