    :-

Everyone with Pellets or Pearls was worried for a second then I bet.

Glad to hear mate. My tank looks fine, not sure whether or not I should see the haziness or not. Yours was there within 48hours reading your thread, and I am at that point now.

Picture from today, and I think although I could be wrong, that my RBTA is splitting, (not because of the Pearls obviously).

If you are waiting for a bacterial bloom, you may be disappointed. I'm afraid its likely to be a very boring journey to low nitrates with Bio Pearls.
    It just sort of....well....happens!!
    Just like it oughta.

Cheers Tony, I seem to remember reading that that wouldn't happen, I just wasn't positive that I had.

Certainly nothing looks like it is suffering, water is still crystal clear and everything looks happy. My only concern is getting an accurate reading for the nitrates, as on my test, yellow (which it is) means zero, but according to the pinpoint meter they were 13 when Nev measured them the other day.

    A few tests from today;

KH - 8 - So buffered back up to 8.6
Mg - 1350 (unsure as to buffer back up or leave it)
    pH - 8.05
    Salinity - 1.026
    Calcium - 440

Skimmer still seems to be working, although the froth has only just hit the top of the cup and not really spilt over yet, although it is not quite as dark as per normal.

MG is fine, 1350 is spot on.

You will know when they are working.
These are about 4 weeks old in my newly set up reef tank. The skimmer is a Tunze 9410
I took this picture tonight, for someone else.

Looks like a dog with the runs has been in there Tony.

Any comments on keeping a DSB in my sump, should I dump this or keep it?

I know Nev has removed his, as well as no longer growing cheato.

Mine did look a lot darker than that previously, as in the froth, not the actual watery bit. Not looking forward to the smell though in a few weeks. [005.gif]

thats what i was saying on Friday mate about mine, skimmer gunk after 3 days if i have forgotten about it.

i never had to clean the breather type holes in the lid before on mine, where now i do have to every time,
as after 2 days the skimmer gunk has foamed up to the same extent as above,,and brown froth muck is coming outa them

I normally emptied mine once a week maximum.

Here it is today, as in 1 minute ago.

Not a lot to report today really.

Having spotted my Randall's goby in the sump yesterday, I decided to fish him out today, whilst I did a 40ltr water change. After about 30 minutes of taking the skimmer out, and then trying to catch him, I eventually did, and he is now back in the main tank.

Not bothered doing any tests today, as the water change should have replaced anything lost in the last 24 hours or so, will do them tomorrow.

    Couple of piccies from today.
