I can't really give you a tank diary as such but will explain how I came over to the salty side [thumbup1.gif]

I have been keeping freshwater fish for around 17 years and my journey to the salty side started when I bought a Ceylon Puffer ( Tetraodon fluviatilis) In the wild these puffer start their life in fresh water and then migrate up the river into Brackish water. So, after about six months I bit the bullet and took Geoff (my Puffer) up to Brackish

Soon after I discovered that Ceylon's could tolerate full Marine and so I bought a new tank and over a period of about six months took Geoff up to full marine

he seemed to love it :))

This nano was a huge learning curve for me and where I learnt a lot and also made a few mistakes along the way but I had been bitten buy the Marine bug. Soon I added more live rock, corals and some fish and after about a year this was the result

I kept the nano for about 2 years but as I said, the bug had bitten me badly and I upgraded to the tank I have now. It's 5x2x2 with a 3ft sump. It has been running now for around 8 months and I'm loving it!!!! [thumbup.gif]

Here is a pic of when I first set it up 8 Months ago

Unfortunately I lost Geoff before the upgrade. I had an outbreak of WS in the nano and with geoff being scaleless it hit him pretty hard, I stuggled desperately for a couple of weeks to save him but alas it was in vane [019.gif] [019.gif]

    Sad news about Geoff,

have you thought abour a replacement?

Got to admit, calling a fish Geoff did make me chuckle... so his spirit lives on with me!

Hope to see more from you?

Not too sure about a replacement. I was very lucky with Geoff (I don't usually name my fish but Geoff's smiley face looked just like a bloke I used to work with called...Geoffrey [011.gif] ) he was very placid which I'm told is unusual for a Ceylon puffer, usually it is advised that you house them with their own or alone. I wouldn't want to take a chance and upset the peace and tranquility that I have in my tank at the moment [thumbup.gif]
