currently i have a rena Aqualife 250 Panoramic about 300ltrs and has a sump of 120ltrs 100ltrs used

have had this tank about 2 mths and have had some right ups and downs with it

bought it off ebay for £250 complete with the sump and most of the stock
and this is how it looked

as you can see it has not been the most well looked after tank of all time

came with all the corals and 2 clown fish, hawkfish, decorated goby, 2 sea stars, 1 purple reef lobster,

also came with phosphates above 5ppm and nitrates above 60ppm

sump was about as useful as a external filter only using 60ltrs out of 120

aslo as you can see the weirs where 22mm pipes which were no good for any amount of flow tbh also the sump pump was a 1048 which was only pumping 600 lph when it needed to be more like 3000lph so i ahev now got a eheim 1262 running also the skimmer was a prizm this has been replaced with a v2 1500

well a few changes to the tank were needed 1st was the pipework needed so the tank was re-driled and also have added weirs to both sides

    after

sump was redesigned using the baffels sideways on so i have an horizontal s befor and after the dsb baffels

and now a few pics of the inhabitants

and this is the tank upto date

also attempted to add a vampire tang which turned out to be a little mistake and this is what made me go for the upgrade

a little about the poor little fellow

here he is a day after adding him

he lasted a week in the setup as the yellow tang decided that he wanted the tank to him self

woke up in morning to a sorry looking vampire

after fishing him out of the main tank and into the sump where he went on to live 6 more days with vaseline and savlon treatment this pic shows more of the damage also the infection starting up

you can see some mark on his side when he died i inspected the body and their was definate puncture wounds from the spur on the yellow tang

this was the point when i decided to go for a bigger tank

Great turn around on the tank seing as you had such high Po4 readings and nitrates. Shame about the tang, they can be little sods at keeping the area their own, seems the vampire came off worst.

Great looking tank though, whats the plan for the upgrade?

Some hard work went into that tank to get the turnaround you did :)))

    Well done.

Tangs can and will attack to defend their territories.

    Look forward to Upgrade. :))

Yep, it is a shame about the tang. Not nice when these things happen. I do like the hawfish.

Seems you have turned the tank around well. :)))
