they don't brake? hm....maybe not but they do rust for fun [emoji23][emoji23] and I could get 2 gyres and advanced controller then also get a spare set of 2 gyres and controller for the price of your mp40s lol

Good job as that's how many you'd need to replace! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

In all fairness they both work. Just go with what you fancy and you should be fine. I've seen mega tanks run with both options and even mix and match.

haha there backed up with 2 years warranty so could have 4 years worth of pumps for your 2 lol.

yeah they do both work very well and it will be down to personally preference of wires in the tank or not, not being able to change the flow direction on the mp, gyres being 'bulky', price and so on.

Am looking at/thinking of getting a Gyre xf230 for my 250 litre tank.....I believe I need to sort out my flow big time (but the wife is going to kill me :w00t:).

Can't comment on the gyre but I'm happy with the mp40qd, all day long
I've had no issues with mine although I had a older version which rusted inside.

Performance wise..great, they don't half shift some water too.. I like the reeflink setup.. which is maybe a disadvantage to those on a budget having to shell out for a special router for them.. but once the system is built up your sorted..

I like the modes where you can mix and match or completely randomise the flow all day and night..it's perfect for those with bespoke requirements using them in a reeftank..
I think flow is one of the most important mechanisms for good growth.. probably just as important as the lighting..
if you have the same boring flow pattern your corals will grow in one particular windswept fashion..

I know they have had their faults, but one thing I will say about ecotech marine is they have exceptional customer service..

No quibbling and sending back for testing.. you are back up and running again within a day or two..

That for me goes a long way..that's what you pay the money for.. good products with the support and back up when you need it.

Maybe some one can expand the dialogue with reference to the gyre customer service..or the frequency they've had to replace them..
