Well, it's approximately 3 weeks until my new custom-made FishNoChips tank arrives, so I thought I'd start my thread now as an outlet for my excitement!

My last tank was a 4x2x2 and it has taught me a lot, but there were many things I wanted to change about it.

The old tank.

Having used a few Korallen Zucht products and been very pleased with the results, and having spent hours drooling over pictures of Zeovit set ups, I'd decided I wanted to give the full zeovit system a go. My plan was to empty my tank, put the livestock into holding tanks and strip it back and re-start.

Whilst in the middle of this process, Ian at FnC posted a few pictures of the new tank he'd just built for Ohwell1983 and my plans changed..... I realised that this was pretty much my dream setup and so I decided to push the boat out and go for a full upgrade.

The new tank is custom made to fit the location it's going in, 165cm long x 75cm deep (inc full length weir) x 50cm heigh. Full length weir and black glass rear panel. The viewing panels will be optiwhite with mitred edges.

Ian's CAD drawings.

Slight update with the rear closed-loop outlets running through the weir and out the back panel.

The system will run a 6-way Der Kroon Flow Wolf closed-loop system powered by a Deltec e-Flow 16 DC pump.

The return will be a Jebao DC 9000

The tank will be run as a full Zeovit system, mainly with SPS.

Deltec SC2060 skimmer

Vertex RX-Z 3 Zeovit reactor

Deltec PF500 calcium reactor

Lights will be Radion XR30W Gen 3 Pros

I'll be using reef bones to make a very open structure with loads of places to put loads of corals.

I literally can't wait for everything to arrive!

Today's delivery.... A pair of Gen 3 Radion Pros. I can't believe how bright these things are. The neighbours must have thought I'd split the atom in my sitting room.

The Reeflink interface is fantastic and the spectrum of these lights is unbelievable. Plenty to keep me occupied until the tank arrives!

And all the reef bones and crushed coral soaking in ro. I'll change the water once every 2 days until the tank is
ready to fill the tank.

Thanks Matt, your build is looking pretty special too! I ordered the rock from Ian at Fish no Chips. I have to say, I'm really pleased with the quality. I got 25kg of branching rock and 25kg of plates. It's all in massive pieces and looks really clean. I've had it soaking in ro for a few days now and will be testing the phosphate tonight.

I plan to keep it soaking for a few more weeks with a 100% water change every 2 days. I'll then dry the rocks and build the scape that I want before seeding it in the DT. I'll then let the biology stabilise for a month or so before starting the full zeovit system.

Good luck with the rest of your build!

Matt

Tank delivery day has been confirmed as 23rd March. I don't want to wish my life away.....but I can't wait!

I've placed an order with my lfs for an Achilles tang, purple tang and naso tang. They will be going into qt while the tank cycles. I plan to add the naso to the tank first to give him a chance to settle and then the purple and Achilles together a week or so later.
