Ahh right I would of thought the nopox would have a detrimental affect on the chaeto? Just started using chaeto again myself after the pellets doing my head in lol

Added Siporax to mine a few days ago, and was going to wait a good month before expecting anything amazing, as far as I could tell, it's just very porous to host tank bacteria as live rock would. Expecting roughly the same period as anew tank then for it to start doing it's do.

Interestingly too, I chose to add it to supplement the NoPox, I read a fair bit around it before hand and both AAC and RedSeaKev mention that the two compliment each other nicely, the carbon dosing feeds the bacteria you want grow on the Siporax. As far as NoPox is concerned, the Siporax gives more solid surface area for the bacteria to settle on :) That was my take on it anyway.

Are you finding your Tux is managing to keep on top of the GHA? I added mine from the other tank and ever since he's raced (relatively) around the tank but seems to be struggling to keep on top of it. I was tempted to get another, my LFS tends to get the pretty purple ones, so fancied getting him a mate to help him out.

@warby - Am I kidding myself that giving NoPox time to get established is going to start getting on top of phosphate? Would you recommend an additional method for phosphate regardless?

My nopox and siporax seem to be working fine now. I add 2ml daily and my reading for no3 and po4 are consistently low (0 & 0.02 respectively @ last night), I might reduce the dosage slightly to raise no3 a wee bit.

My urchin has bit the dust :icon_e_sad: maybe it od'd on algae, but I think it's demise is my fault. I've tried all kinds of potions to reduce no3 & po4 to get rid of the algae, as I lost patience waiting for the nopox to work. Bought some stuff from MHA that looked as if it was working a treat at stripping out po4 as the water would get so cloudy, my corals and fish and shrimps all were fine, but alas my snails and urchin passed on.

I'm now happy with my levels but still have some residual algae to get rid of. Hopefully the scrubber will help with this as well as some good old fashioned scrubbing of my own :w00t:.

Got a Sea Hare today

This dude is awesome. Felt sorry for him at MHA as his tank was spotless. There's enough food for him in my tank to turn him into one fat bunny (for the sake of my girls we call him a Sea Rabbit/Bunny).

When the algae scrubber kicks in, he will also have a weekly supply of fresh algae (should he munch through my Forrest of gha!).

Is my wife's favourite tank inhabitant to date
