Does cheato/refuge really make a difference, not saying it is wrong just not convinced a small refuge stacks up?

I had one on a small 135l tank and cheato grew well but I still needed biopellets and Phos remover and do not plan to re-arrange my reefer 450 to accommodate as not convinced it would be worth the hassle.

I have seen a lot of people alter their sumps to accommodate and I get why you need one for tritium but then you need at least 10% or 20% of tanks volume (apologies cannot remember the minimum size) to make it effective.

Interested in views and does it make a difference.

I had one on my last tank and got one on my current tank. The cheato provides a place for pods and other critters to breed other then the dt. And they get washed through for the fish to feed on. If they where l in the dt they would get eaten faster by the fish imo.

As for running bio pellets along with cheato you must have a heavy bio load on the tank or feed alot like I do lol.

Is that on a reefer? I decided to keep with stock sump with ate and filters and whilst I have to change filters every other day I like the set up.

I did have on previous tank and with no sump and only 4 chambers in back I needed all the filtration I could get. It was a fluval M90 and 135L and whilst it was a great first tank it was not the most efficient and now appreciating a tank with sump

This is my sump pit my new one in last weekend as I cracked my old one! Not got anything in the middle apart from cheato atm.
    Sump is 32 long 18 wide 15 tall. Display tank is 5ft x 2ft wide x 27inch tall.
Sump 3 chambers 1st 10" for skimmer middle chamber is about 12inch off the top of my head last chamber 6inch for return pump, rowa reactor pump and bio pellet pump.

no its a custom built but sump was copied somewhat to be like the reefer as much as poss and top off section included, the lfs said size was very important when having a refug and it would need to be much larger then my entire sump size combined if it was going to export nutrient to any worthwhile level.

A nice looking DT with a good mix of colours

Unusual to see a tank without a skimmer but just shows you what you can do with alternative set ups.
