    Hi to all,

can someone help please, i have a fish only marine tank, 100 gallon, over the past six months i have been guilty
of letting the maintanence of the tank lapse, for the past four months i have tried unsuccessfully to get
back to being in a position of control.
I have a mc500 skimmer with sump and top up tank, the problem is the live rock which cost me many hundreds of pounds
does not contain any of the purple features it once did, now it looks grey and tired.
Q: can i bring the live rock back to its former glory? If so how ?
Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi

To start off, can we get a little more information. Are you using any filtration besides the Live Rock, eg a canister or or filter system with phosphate remover, carbon etc.

What circulation do you have in the tank, and what sg do run the system at.

Do you have water test results?? Including phosphate if possible.

    Thanks for your replies:

    4 tunse powerheads
filter system with phosphate remover and carbon
    seperate RO water system

in brief my problem is that the marine shop i relied on has gone out of business, the
owner looked after my tank and visited if i had any issues. Now he is not around
i need to educate myself and find good practices.

i have noticed my skimmer has overflowed for past month causing me to move
it centrally in the sump, not much residue in the cup either, how do i check to see if
    this is working properly?

    Terry
