Try turning the flow down initially

Would it be possible to fit one ?

You can then close it slightly and fill the weir
I’m his will help reduce the noise

Have you got a picture of the pipe in the wier?
It may be possible to fit a single durso to it, that would help a lot.

I've put an air vent in the top of the pipe as per the diagram and it's worked a treat
    much appreciated

theres 2 pipes one carries the water down to the sump the other is an overflow pipe which also goes to the sump but hopefully will never be needed

If you have 2 down pipes then have one cut as low as possible with a tap underneath in the sump cabinet - i.e I don't use any pipe and just have the height of the through tank connector in the weir , the second is an over flow and have the height of water just underneath this - about half an inch below weir comb level , use the tap to balance this , no noise at all . If you do hear any noise you know water is flowing into the overflow pipe so warns you there could be a problem. ( hope you understand )
