So I've decided possibly on what fish I want!

This is a McCosker's Flasher Wrasse / purple firefish / and possibly a blenny!

This may even leave room for something else should I decide?

Going well thanks fella - sea hares cleared around 50% of the algae that remained, I expected it to munch a little faster but no real rush so!

sooo.. StarfishEnterprise I thought everything was going well - the tank is probably 75% clear of hair algae so was on the up! however when I left this morning sea hare on the glass no issues, this evening it was laid under a piece of rock with what looked like its shell poking out of its back. I sea hare removed :( and now I wonder.. was it attacked or was it just a case of its done the damage to itself somehow?

Oh balls your damned vacuum broke! Surely nothing you have would attack it?

there was no real "damage" if that makes sense? had a quick google and it matches some other peoples descriptions

almost clean cut along the back and a shell protruding (seems that the skin flaps allow the shell through when they die so!)

Hopefully he did the job enough to get the algae under control then. Guess you'll know in the next few weeks. Have you been running phos remover. What do you use for nutrient export now? Were you going to try and get chaeto in the sump at some point?

Hopefully its under control - think I'll keep an eye on things over the next couple of weeks (and another change of rowaphos!) and then go from there

Well I sent some water off to tanktests on Friday so I guess it'll be interesting to see what those results are when they come back!

Test results in - not what I expected?

I also guess time for some proper calibration fluid! As my refractometer is calibrated with ro/di water and reads 34.5ppt this morning!

So after a fair bit of chatting with StarfishEnterprise I have decided to finally take abit more action...

This is the first time in 2 years I've had a proper outbreak of hair algae (I had a bit first time I set up but that soon cleared!) and this also happens to be the first time I've ever had Cyano

So to start
All my rock went back in the display last night (it had been out and sumped for a while but as Ben pointed out this may have fuelled what was then happening in the display)
The cyano was syphoned but returned almost as bad this morning (I am wondering if this happened to arise due to the fact I'd taken some rock out of the display disturbing the sand?) thus releasing nutrients?
I have decided to continue feeding what I normally would (this wasnt a great deal anyway!)
New sump light on order, a breeder net to house some cheato
A quick test (not using low range tests) shows both my nitrate and phos at 0 however I know this cant be true

All in all no losses yet and I hope to avoid any aswell however I do need to get the cyano cleared as its so unsightly!
