Have you observed him being naughty?

Is it possible there is another predator lurking in the display, a rough crab maybe?

Or is it possible the Zoas dont like the light? Your using LEDS are they adjustable? Maybe new purchases need a bit of time to adapt in a sheltered area?

I've not noticed the CB picking at them! Then again I am not around a lot during the day to see it!

I've baited the tank with bottle traps previous and found nothing but may do it again?

All the zoa frags I've had have come from under LED lighting (I tend to start mine down on the sandbed) but in both cases it's been roughly 2 weeks before they start to close up

This time around I dipped and sumped them - dipped then went into the display! Looked great until my weekend away where the tank got fed a little less and come back to 8 or 9 heads totally missing! Dipped and sumped them and the remaining heads have opened back up and no more have disappeared!

If the heads are disappearing that quickly then predation sounds like the likely answer

Yep guess ill sump the CB and see what happens.. If the zoas still disappear when they are back in the display I can rule that out!

So a small clean up of the tank (I introduced hair algae on a piece of rock a while back!)

As you can see I siphoned some of the sand out courtesy of reefloats awc! And a big scrape of the back pane of glass to remove the majority of the stuff on there

So have you got to the bottom of the Zoa issue?

Still sat in the sump pal - need to catch the CB and swap them around and see what happens.. I do get the feeling that's my issue so I know it'll be a case of the CB going :(

Cheers pal! Not as blue as I'd like but that's the fitting!

Hopefully once the coral beauty is out I can really go to town with frags

I bet by the sounds of it mate!

Anyway your fish trap is in - I'm wondering if it's worth moving it deeper?

Just work on where the fish spends most of its time.

well it spends a fair chunk of time in the middle of the rock work! I'll leave it another day or 2 then move it down or such

So the clowns have figured out the trap - I've not seen the coral beauty go into it yet! I guess a lot of patience maybe required!

So this has started to form in one area of my sump

Is it just a case of adding a little bit of flow to combat it?

So another hair algae pulling session - a water change fresh carbon and some rowaphos in a bag (short term solution) and tonights jobs are done!
