    Hi guys I am upugrading my lights to 3 x 400W halides and would like to know if anybody runs the cheap halide bulbs from ebay they are only £20

    I don't run halides but from what I've read, most cheap halides aren't worth throwing the money at.

    With halides you get what you pay for, buy cheap buy twice or three times. Go with something like a BLV.

    I think you might be right, I once tried the 250w iquatics and they were bobins... Just had a look in the states I can get 3 20K Radiums for £140 delivered, but not sure if there is any difference between us and UK bulbs

    Thanks Chris, that sound very good.. have you ever used the Radiums over your tanks? its just I would like to get away from using suppliment T5's so want a bulb that gives me that nice blue tone.

    Have u had 20k before? I have these now and prefer 14k tbh. That's Wat am going back to next:)

    I have used 14K blv but still find them a bit yellow..

    there is no comparison to a 14k and a 20k radium trust me...

    I bought 2 x 250W 14k from ebay last week £38 for two.

    Replaced my iquatics 20k lamps (they were too blue), everything in my tank is happy & all look more colourful & my turbinaria is full of life........

    i agree,,,its not just the inconsistency in ouputs,,but also the damage they can do to your light unit

    Only bought them as a Temp Solution as I'm thinking of buying 2 No. SOLS when I return from Hols in GOZO......
