Yeah, get the reef bone soaking Chris....at least 8 weeks. Thats why it took me so long to add the extra rock to cover my eggcrate as it was still soaking in my garage.

No mate, there is the odd report of them making a dent in it but in the main it's too bitter for most fish to digest and they leave well alone. It's the biggest PITA I have ever come across tbh.

There is no signs of the stuff going at all. Tech M has gone in and mag is at 2200 and nothing! Corals are starting to suffer a bit now and no wonder! They are ok but when the mag goes this high they certainly go very pale in colour.

Made the decision to strip it all down and start again. Tank will be going and replaced with either a 4 x 2 x 2 or a 5 x 2 x 2. Going to get things going in the next couple of weeks and Rob has kindly offered to house the corals.

New tank will be reef bone only so I better get my ass in gear and get in soaking.

Gutted I have to do it tbh as this tank has really made me want to keep SPS and they are doing well. But needs must and I ain't looking at a tank of byropsis in my living room!

I think I'm pushing my luck at 4 x 2 x 2 tbh mate, I'm going to have a think over the next few days though and maybe go for a brand new tank so I can have it the way I want. Only thing I have not had is a brand new tank in 10 years, always second hand :)

Same here Chris never had a new tank, which is why I'm changing mine in the new year. I'm going to sit down and work out exactly how I want it running, instead of jumping in and buying something that looks good.

As above shame to see it being stripped down I'm sure Rob won't frag to many of your corals :taunt:.

How about a braceless cube, with an external weir

If made to order you can do a concealed DSB in the display
With the sand below the plinth line for easy cleaning

    Would look cool

Yeh I have seen these Sandy and they look good, if not costly.

I'm now thinking kill the LR for 6-8 weeks and then add it again to the new tank.

Rob is coming tomorrow and we are moving my wanted corals to his tank while I strip it down. All systems go :)

So all corals now moved to Robs tank. Taking some LR out tomorrow and off to the garage for a power wash before a long 6 week soak in RO.

New tank looks like its going to be a gloss white 4 x 2 x 2. 6 weeks + with no tank what the fk I'm I going to do? Might get a pico in the short term to house the bits of zoas left in the main tank.

Hazey has kindly offered to look after my Copperband :)

Only other fish I want to keep is my Mandarin that I have had for two years. Problem being someone looking after it and getting it out again.

I'm sorry to see it go in a way as it was my first success with SPS, however I won't be sad to see it go for the byropsis problem.

One thing learned from this tank, is don't buy live rock from any Tom dick or Harry as you never know what's on its way into your tank.
