Does Anyone Knownwhat These Are?

grows directly off rock and gets encased in coraline fairly quickly? maybe 1mm diameter and 6-8mm long

It's a type of algae I had it in my tank, it will gradually die back, it wasn't invasive and didn't harm any corals etc...just can't remember the name for it
