True Peppermint Shrimps
This is the lesser known but still one of the TRUE peppermint shrimp. Its latin name is - Lysmata seticaudata
They have been known to attack the larger aiptasia's and a google search can bring up an interesting study about these and the other more commonly known Lysmata wurdemanni (I did post the best bits of this study on UR before I found Salty Box but noted you didnt want copy and pasted info so I have left it out )
I can 100% confirm they do eat aiptasia. My tank has been empty of it since adding 2 of them:thumbup1:
Sorry about the quality but I hope you can make out the markings ok. I will try and get a more recent pic as the red does darken up abit over time but as you know Pepps arent the most social of shrimps so it could prove difficult lol
I will add some pics tomorrow, my pepp (polo!!) is really sociable? He wasn't at first but he is ALWAYS out now!! Lights just gone off so will photo him tomorrow
Re: True Peppermint Shrimps
Nice one mate, I barely see my 2! To be fair they have got braver but for the first 3 weeks I thought they were dead until I saw a molt lol
Now they have their nightly scan of the rock work and thats about it. Lights on I might get the odd leg sticking out but never a full body lol
(BTW, my dogs called PoloHysterical )
