    True Peppermint Shrimps

This is the lesser known but still one of the TRUE peppermint shrimp. Its latin name is - Lysmata seticaudata

They have been known to attack the larger aiptasia's and a google search can bring up an interesting study about these and the other more commonly known Lysmata wurdemanni (I did post the best bits of this study on UR before I found Salty Box but noted you didnt want copy and pasted info so I have left it out:cool: )

I can 100% confirm they do eat aiptasia. My tank has been empty of it since adding 2 of them:thumbup1:

Sorry about the quality but I hope you can make out the markings ok. I will try and get a more recent pic as the red does darken up abit over time but as you know Pepps arent the most social of shrimps so it could prove difficult lol

    Re: True Peppermint Shrimps

Nice one mate, I barely see my 2! To be fair they have got braver but for the first 3 weeks I thought they were dead until I saw a molt lol

Now they have their nightly scan of the rock work and thats about it. Lights on I might get the odd leg sticking out but never a full body lol

(BTW, my dogs called PoloHysterical )
