well, about a year and a half ago i setup my first marine tank and although i had a few set backs and made a few mistakes it all went very well... till now.

My 5' tank sprang a leak (not sure where yet but seems to be right at the bottom somewhere) and after transferring all the fish in to a makeshift holding tank and most of the corals in to the sump i lost the lot. well, i still have the corals in the sump which seem to be doing ok but all the fish died pretty much overnight with the 2 clowns holding out for a while longer.

So its time to start again. this time the tank will be smaller. it will still be in the clinic waiting room but in a different location to the last and will be shallower, and more square. i also have plans for a much larger tank to be setup out in the back extension room but that will have to wait for now...

the idea is to put this tank in a corner with to viewable sides and have a rimless open top with suspended lights (the last tank was deep and had a closed hood ) XD

here is my idea for the sump routine
x2 40mm returns. one with a tap regulator and one without. the one with will be untraditionally close to the surface (not sure how close just yet)
The tap will be situated near the front of the sump for easy access.
Then there will be a series of seven even and widely spaced baffles.
