Can anyone give me some guidance regarding advice on what Calcuim reactor would suit my tank (2 foot cube with a lot of SPS and some LPS).

Currently running a doser but considering a change.

I don't know much about them so I risk talking out my ass here

Doesn't it depend on how much KH, calc your going through? The bigger the reactor the more media it can hold thus the more exposed to lower ph so more dissolves?

I'm running mine at 1 drip every 2 seconds which gives me a ph no where near 6.5. But if I rammed my tank full of corals I'd know that I'd be pushing my reactor to its limits to keep up.

IMO rectors are harder to get correctly balance on smaller tanks then dossing

But the BM is a good reactor and at a good price and better then the D&D

but dont forget its not just a reactor you need there is other stuf you will need to get as well
    CO2
    Regulator
    Controler
    Solenoid valve
    as well as media

I've been setup for a good month now and is seriously question if you do need

    A solenoid
    Ph controller
    Ph probe

I'm still waiting for my probe and controller to come back after obtaining a faulty unit. I've ran mine using the bubble count and it's been more stable than dosing! :)

I'm going through 200g of Alk in just under 2 weeks, and that's only keeping my tank at a DkH of 7.9.

I could managed with the doser if I an fit a bigger container in the cabinet (I need it to last at least 2 weeks for when we are on holidays.

I think if it aint broke Roger then leave it the **** alone. If its just a matter of finding a larger container/ fitting a larger container in then surely that will be less disruptive than swapping over how you deliver the elements.

I'd agree with Matt :). I lost 3 frags when I moved from dosing to reactor but now I'm more stable so in happier.

Indeed, and how the hell do you convert dosing a hundred and whatever ml of Alk per day to "x" drips per second?????????

    I'd kill everything!!!!

Just a though Roger but have you thought about increasing the bicarb to ro ratio, I've no idea what ratio you mix your solution to at the moment.
Iirc the saturation point is about 95g to a 1000ml of water so if your mixing less than this you could bump it up a little and deliver more bicarb with each ml.

Another suggestion for you, if space is tight inside the cabinet have you thought of having a separate side cabinet made to sit next to the tank so it can accommodate your dosing unit and larger dosing vessels.

I don't like the thought of having any electrics/plug sockets in the sump so I contacted Lez at Corla Aquarium Cabinets and asked him to knock up some cabinets to sit either side of the tank.
Cost about £35 each which is a bargain if you ask me!

146ml/day alk, Clac is much less than that, 2 ltr containers so lasts just 2 weeks, alk is a bit low (7.9) ish, so if I want to get it higher (and I'd like too) I need a bigger Alk container.
Going to see if a 3ltr pop bottle will fit.
