Hello all I've recently got back into marines and as part my filtration use bio balls in the 1st chamber of my sump as well as a pellet reactor and skimmer . i read the other day bio balks are bad as they harbour unwanted bacteria ? all my parameters are good as are the livestock and corals within but am just wondering other people's thoughts on bio balls in marine tanks
    cheers

if you have unwanted bacteria in your tank, they will be everywhere and not just in you bio-balls
they often get referred to as nitrate factories as if this is a bad thing
there may be other ways of doing it
but high nitrates is so much better than any ammonia

if everything looks ok, i wouldn't worry
