Has anybody used aquaforest kh buffer just got some mixed it in RODI (1lt) mixed it really well left it 2 mins when I came back to it the powders settled on bottom . Should I mix it and put it in sump fast as I can feel like it will just settle out in sump . Trying to up my kh from 6.1 to 7 maybe 8 as I've been ***ing aquaforest component 1 2 3 for a week and kh ain't high enough I'm my opinion

I wouldn't just dump it in the sump in one go, raising KH will also raise Ph so best done slowly,
I've not used the aquaforest buffer but I imagine it's the same as the rest, how much buffer powder are you trying to dissolve int 1 litre? I've found 30g is about max.

Not sure what ***1ng is automatically filtered, it's a common enough word in Reef keeping:biggrin:

That was last night today it's gone down to 8.7 this morning at 10 am instructions are crap with two different ways of mixing.ph readings on apex didn't really change or spike

Most of the kh buffering powders always have certain amount of the powder that settles out mine did it all the time when I was ***ing. Warming the RO water first will help dissolve more but there will still probably be some just use the liquid and leave powder residue in your mixing container

Corals look stunning, do you have a tank thread?

I've never been able to get more than 30g fully dissolved, perhaps warming the water a little will help.

Your biggest problems will be the sps they won't like the alk swinging up and down if possible I would try and spread the 1 litre over 4 or 5 ***es rather than dumping it in in one go

IMG_2643.jpgIMG_2648.jpgJust done a test with hanna and it's 8.3 I would like it to stay there but it's dropped 1.0 in 24 hours and I'm dosing component 1 2 3 at 4ml 3 times a day what should I go up to ?I was on 22ml of component 1 (kh) with rest on next to nothing last week and it was still low .Supposed to dose equally so I changed it all Monday should I mix a batch of buffer and put it in my spare pump in number 4 just think it will settle out in bottom of container. No not done tank tread don't know where to start had so many ups and downs lol

Not used aquaforest stuff so can't comment but I would be tempted to dose the alk buffer with your 4th pump start with about 25 mil see how it goes over a couple of days adjust slowly up or down until you reach a balance and just decant the liquid into another container so you aren't drawing the residue in

You could use the 80g you'll probably notice a bit more residue the main thing with alk is not the number it's the stability so it doesn't matter if you aim for 7 8 or 9 the thing is keep it stable and also remember the right level of mag as this helps to keep the others stable

Right will mix 80g in morn with RODI leave it settling then take out the liquid suspect that it will look like nearly all the powder will settle at bottom , wondering if I heat it up maybe but how ? Microwave?

Yea warm the RO for about 30 seconds in the microwave add the powder I shake it for about a minute to disperse the powder then leave to settle for about 20 minutes
