The Betta life space range has a fixed weir with a covering piece of plastic. The problem with cutting the combs is making sure you have enough surface area to allow the water to escape without causing a Dam effect, where by the water will literally collect behind the weir and then start to over flow.

Not sure wether to put these on the base or butt the base up to it like this. Which would be stronger? Or would it make no difference lol

Just to warn you silicone with acrylic on glass can be a pain. It may take longer to dry.

Sweet looking work though pal. Well done!

Thanks mate, yeah I did read that when I was checking if if is safe to use. I might as well try it tho. If it fails il just use the pipe and tart it up a bit.

Cheers pal il bear that in mind. Not sure which route to go tbh. Might try the bends first as they don't needing anything siliconing in. If they fail or are noisey they can just be pulled out.

I'm swaying towards the pipe rather than the weir box. Looked a bit cluttered when I offered it up. Pipe needs a bit of tarting up today and some weir like slots put in it.

Plus half the hole is covered by the brace bar so should help stop any jumpers

You might have a problem there mate. It may restrict flow in to the pipe. I would certainly get it set up and run tested before securing anything.

Can you send a pic of the weir in place? Lay the tank on its back and photo it then rotate the image so i can see it how it would look in the stood position if you can. Would like to check the fit of it

I've ordered a pair of 32mm aquamedic strainers to see what they are like. Should be here tomorrow.

This is what I hope they will be like. Something like this would be ideal.

Is that a acrylic Cover Why did you not add slots for a comb in stead of the cut out ? Just a thought

I did make it with the intentions of adding a comb if it needed it, but I didn't account for the brace bar being in the way. So now I couldn't get in it if I need to :(

Yeah I could do but I think it looks a bit awkward, a bit bulky looking. Probably just me being fussy lol

Theres about 10mm between the glass and top of the pipe if that's what you mean?

Ok from the pic i thought it may have been less.

Strainers are probably going to be the most effective because i can see its the minimal look your after and the two designs you have tried you have not been keen on either.
