:-dOk folks in keeping with the current trend of pre tank threads I figured I would start one too.

The tank has been ordered and will arrive in about a months time and will measure up at 115x24x30(tall) with a central weir with 2 40mm drains. The first stage of filtration will be a large VAT which will have filter socks to get the larger waste out before it enters the sump. The VAT will also double up as a 'waste' VAT during water changes and I will have the same sized VAT ready with a mix of salt water to go back in to the system.

The water will then flow from the VAT to a remote sump located in the cupboard underneath the stairs where it will have a DSB, chaetto, bubble magus NAC9 skimmer, 2 eheim jaeger 300w heaters (controlled with an ATC 800+), D&D phosphate reactor and I will use a sequence 10,000 return pump. I will also have my ATU tank with a reefloat ATU.

The tank will be light with 3 250w lumenarcs on a 3 plug timer and will be have a 'sun' style timing. IE. Left comes on at 9am centre at 9.30am and right 10am. The left will the turn off at 7pm, centre at 7.30pm and right 8pm. (Times just an example) Blue lighting from a 4ft LED bar I got from Carl to supplement, thanks Carl didn't know you liked LED's mate.

Once the phosphate and nitrate levels are at a lower level and maintainable due to having 50 less fish I will start adding 'plants'. Big Thumbs Up

To give you a better idea of what I mean myself and Matt spent around 7 hours working together to draw up some diagrams and superior illustrations:

I figured you wouldn't have changed your mind dude, in order to make that possible though I would have to cut out the baffles and re-arrange them all and get new ones made dude.

Hysterical In my defence I made that name up, trade marked it and got it tattooed on my heart. :001_wub:

Is that a spider hanging from the 3000k bulb? The attention to detail is fantastic :)

Your macro algae looks like a little green turtle to me. It's rather cute. Does it have a name?

    Re: Manjatt's worst nightmare relived................

I also think you need to put the skimmer in the first section. This will stop micro bubbles entering the DT and help stop organics from flowing all the way through your sump.

    Re: Manjatt's worst nightmare relived................

I'd also consider adding a closed loop. You can run the pipe work inside the tank to preserve the bottom of the tank but for not much power cost you will get a good even movement of water.

    Re: Manjatt's worst nightmare relived................

    Correct Sir

    I shall name it Leonardo!

You don't get micro bubbles off the bubble magus Andy, not that I have noticed anyway? Like I said to Matt mate, I would have to take the baffles out and put them back together in a new order and order new baffles.

You been conspiring with someone? Hysterical I quite like the polario mate and the way it will be set up should work out well. I hope...................... :whistling:

    Re: Manjatt's worst nightmare relived................

If its worth doing Liam, its worth doing well. Having your skimmer there will make it drastically in-efficient.

Andy, I suggested the CLS, thats why Liam thinks we are conspiring. We are not Liam...its just great minds and all that

    Re: Manjatt's worst nightmare relived................

I know you aren't conspiring dude, it is the obvious choice but when have I ever gone for the obvious? So, where the DSB is in my fine illustration adjust that to put the skimmer in? There is also the issue of having some form of putty to add a baffle when I got the sump......................
