We've had our tank up and running for a while now and never been completely happy with the overflow
The guys who installed it didn't do it properly which is a shame. We have two pipes going down into our sump both at the same height (although I think one is a mm taller). We are struggling with the noise these make from the water and air going down them
We can control the pipes by a valve to back the water up and remove the noise but it stops the water from being sucked in from the...
The pita has gone and got himself stuck in my weir
Easiest recovery would be for him to swim through the pipe and into my filter sock, but so far not done that  Now my tiger pistol shrimp is all alone.
He's been there almost a week now and have been feeding the weir as well as the display to keep him going.
Any suggestions most welcome....but it does not help when the weir is 2' deep with little space to manoeuvre :w00t:
I'll have to get a very small fish net and try that me...
I'm getting a lot of brown algae dust over the glass of my dt
It is brown
Tank: 244 litres inc sump
Going on 8 weeks
Phosphates very low waiting on new test kit
2 x clowns
1 banded shrimp
Some zoas and an anemone
I tried to let it take hold to burn itself out but while I was out my son cleaned the whole tank!
Any advice appreciated

I've been meaning to start a tank thread since the birth of this tank in January,
I initially took a trip out to Burscough with the plan of ordering one of the red sea reefer tanks as a replacement for my old and tired 4 foot tank, whilst there I noticed an eareef tank Steve had on display so with many ££ spent we went away to await delivery of our new eaReefPro1500s, and a few other goodies.
The original plan was to put it in the dining room but Amanda decided it would be best in the...
I've been reading the getting started guide, http://www.thesaltybox.com/forum/help-and-advice/110278-setting-marine-tank-basics.html, ( for about the millionth time! ) and just have a few quesitons. This is probably impatience as i'm just starting a tank for the first time but i can't necessarily see an obvious answer so thought i'd ask.
So, if my ammonia and nitrite levels are zero is there anything else to wait for before adding a clean up crew? I've read some things...
Need advise please. lost my coral beauty last Friday which was really unexpected as he seemed fine Thursday night. Then I lost my yellow tang on Monday and now 1 of my chromis had died. Had the water checked and all is fine so I'm baffled. Worried now for the rest of my fish.
Hi saltys.....just after people's opinions really. Over the last 4 weeks I've lost nearly all my fish from what I believe to be velvet. My Caribbean blue tang showed signs of marine black spot and over the course of a week it went down hill. Within 10 days Id lost carribean blue tang, purple Tang, algae blenny,Midas blenny, royal gramma, both clowns, kole tang, chalk goby and scooter blenny. Remaining fishare yellow Tang, flame angel,yellow/banana wrasse and female peacock wrasse all of which have...
