Here is my storey of the conversion over to ULNS of my tank 48x20x28 mixed reef
this has been set up one and a half years and has not IMO look as good as I would like
I have a small amount of cyno on the live rock and sand bed and also I'm having to clean the glass daily if not more

Current filtration is
Liver rock
Fast flow dark DSB
separate algae tank
phosphate reactor
UV and Ozone
Also running balling lite

I'm thinking going with the Korallen Zucht Zeovit system it seems a bit less technical then the Fauna Marin system but that just IMO

so where do I start done the reading now getting the equipment up together
Reactor
I have gone with a Vertex ZF-15 reactor and it arrived today [thumbup.gif] and on unpacking it I'm pleased with the build quality of it [thumbup1.gif] here are some photos

first a fall view shot

then a shot of the stone container

A shot down from the top

Image

Non return valve (must keep this clean) to stop the reactor from emptying when the feed pump is off (3 hours on, 3 hours off)

Image

The T bar for pumping the stones 10 times once a day

Image

And the stone container in the raised position

Image

That's it for now as I need to do some work to be able to pay for the rest of the kit

Looks a robust piece of kit... Very similar in style to my Deltec skimmer... Wonder if it's manufactured by the same company?

Best of luck (no, not luck... Skill!) with the change over... Better do a bit of reading to see how this differs from Balling Lite...

This is a form of filtration like a DSB or MM not a form of adding calc, alk and mag as balling is I will still be using balling for addition of them

Have a read of the guide HERE may help you to understand what is all about

If you have some cyano you will probably not need the Food7 for a while as this can fuel it further. Good look with the Zeo I am having good results so far with mine.

Thanks I have been told to leave of the start7 for two weeks then start at half dosage

Hoping to get it all set up this week end BUT the wife thinks I'm laying the new flooring in the kitchen well it's been half done now for 3 weeks another 2 weeks wont hurt (or will it) [005.gif]
