There is a scam email about atm claiming to be from Her Majesties Revenue and Customs.

This email claims you have a tax refund due for around the £380 mark.

A form is attached that asks you for the debit or credit card details you want the refund to go to.

This would never happen from HMRC. I have spoken to them about the email and they were already aware of it, although they still want the email forwarding to their department that deals with this.

If you get this email, please pm me for the email address to send it to.

DO NOT under any circumstances fill out the form, they will take £380 from you, not pay it to you.

That is shocking and it is just another form of the phishing scams that these scum perpatrate.

Cant they catch them using the bank account details (of the one it goes in)?

That just sounds like the usual HMRC way of doing things. Send out random meaningless demands for money, then vaguely imply you might be entitled to get something back, then tell you that you actually owe them more than you thought you did. [011.gif]

The email wording is the same almost as you would get on a letter from them, apart from the first paragraph.

On the page where you would enter the card details, they even have ripped off the HMRC logo.

Difference is, HMRC would not refund the tax unless it was a large amount, all they would do is alter the tax code for the next year as they do when you have not paid enough.

I actually got a letter a few years back saying I had underpaid tax, I rang and spoke to them and it was infact their error, I was paying via PAYE which meant that that the nhs automatically paid the correct tax on whatever I earnt. They will try it on at times, it was a good job I spotted it, I still had to send them my P60 for that year though.

The best was the retirement pension forecast I got when I was 27, as if they can predict what I would get in 30 odd years time. [005.gif]
