So what's the longest time your fish have gone without food?
By this I mean the extra nutrients you normally add daily, frozen, dry, nori etc
I want my tangs to do more algae grazing but don't want to starve them!

3 days when I went away, didn't seem to have any bad side effects
, Ant
180ltr tank, 1 true percula clown, 1 chalk goby, 1 lemonpeel angel, 1 flame angel, 1 spotted mandarin, 1 yellow tailed purple tang, 1 long nosed hawkfish and various other CUC and softies
3 days Adam, I have always believed there is enough in the system for them to live off, pecking on the LR extra. TBH when we go away for weekends I normally do this than trust anyone to feed incase of over feeding, even with putting food in small pots for each day, friends will feed more as they think they are still hungry
I'd have no worries leaving for a week but i know my tank

A weeks ok but a fortnight is pushing it.

Id be more than happy to not feed for a week if you had to for most species. I dont imagine you would see problems if you left them for three!! But dont try it!!!
It totally depends on the species, Moray eels can regularly go months or even a year or more and not feed, then suddenly eat like a horse. We had a conger eel that didnt feed for 8 months and then started again.
Fish are cold blooded and as such do not have a high energy requirement. Most people totally overfeed their fish IMO.

Add to that that mammals are warm blooded, and as such have much higher energy requirements and we could survive several weeks without food I imagine fish could happily go three weeks.
Again, not all species, seahorses for example need feeding three times a day, more if possible!
humans can go months without food depending on how fat you are. im not saying it would be good for you but most would survive
I have come down the other side and feed minimum once in 24 hours
Most of the tanks are heavily stocked so natural food soon runs out
This creates a survival instinct leading to aggression
That said I have stopped feeding my Tangs Nori so they graze the live rock
At Screwlose's suggestion
All they get now is ocasional green spinach from the frozen mixed packs

If my hands aren't salty. probably here

I guess there are several questions,
how long would your fish survive without food?
How long till they get hungry enough to cause potential aggretion?
How long do you routinely leave them without feeding.
How long is the longest you ever have left them?
The answer to all of these is going to be different, ranging from week/months for survival to 24hours as a routine.
