What sort of price they usually go for? My LFS refuses to stock stuff like wild caught clowns, mandarins and stuff with abysmal success rates which means they'd have to order something like that in specially. It's a good approach and I'm all for it just if you do order something tricky you basically have to take what the shop gets for you.

Our Idol is at least 3 years old. Im not in a great possition to give much info about when it first arrived as none of the staff that were working then are still at the museum.

Now he is easy. He feeds on flake, pellets and any meaty foods. The tank is very large (around 9000lt) with a mix community of tropicals. The only issue we have is that we was put in with various butterflies and they nip his elongate dorsal fin but it doesnt seem to affect his health otherwise.

I think selection and seeing them feed is very important for your sucess. I honsestly believe some individuals are just good at feeding and will accept most things, but the vast majority dont and it comes down to the individual fish.

That being said the article in Marine Habitat did give some excellent feeding tips. I personally havent come across any of the food containing sponge, Id be greatful if anyone has and could post some links etc.

Ocean nutrition make Angel formula which contains a mix of foods which inludes sponge.... when defrosted the cubes can be cut up into bite size pieces and fed over a period of time to Moorish idol and or angels and tangs in the tank... i leave my pieces slightly bigger so that only the larger fish can consume.

thats a good tip, I stopped feeding it as alot got wasted, but this method makes sense.
I also found my clowns ate it /fed it to their nem, which was annoying.

    any one else?

thanks for the input, but see the op, blanket statements don't help. the idea is to get actual info on experiences.
