    Default grit/sand in RSCP

I've been using RSCP for a few weeks now and I've noticed whenever I mix up a batch I end up with what looks (and feels) like sand at the bottom. Never had this with D&D and just wondered if its normal? It's deffo the salt as

    1. bucket clean
    2. add RO and water is totally clear
    3. add salt, water goes cloudy (as normal)
    4. water clears as salt dissolves and sand at the bottom!

I'm not overly concerned about it as I just chuck it with the last dribbling of water but as I've said above, is this normal for this salt?

water is heated and circulated with a small ph. Its not the equip either as everything is fine when I run them in just RO

never had it with other salts, just the RSCP. First time of using it and there's nothing obvious in the bucket, it only drops out after dissolving. As I said I'm not overly concerned as I'm not adding it to the tank but its just a little weird

Mix your salt unheated, for best results.

AFAIK RSCP and DD use a mud/clay type substance to bind the salt, pretty sure you are seeing the remnants of that, nothing to worry about IMO

I've had this happen to me once when mixing a fresh batch of salt.

Check your levels on a freshly mixed batch, my Kh was really low.

Turned out i had put too much salt in at once and this caused a little bit percipitation.

    Might be worth checking

    that could be it thanks

I generally bung all the salt in at once. I'll try doing it in parts next time

do you mix the salt before adding it to your ro,this is to ensure you get the same results with each batch you make up

For a 60L mix i weight out 820grams in a jug, then sprinkle this in over a 5 min period, then repeat a further 2 times to get the water to salinty 36ppt (brine refracto). My levels are very close to those stated on the bucket.

Give it a shot and let us know how you got on.
