You've already commented in my picture thread so you know I have a female common boa.

I used to have others but downsized to keep the boa (she's in a 6x3x3 viv). Ghost corn, pinstripe corn, royal python, desert king, mexican black king, western hognose, black & white californian king and a sonoran cross dwarf boa.
2x Black & White Clowns, 3x Blue-Green Chromis, 4x Blue leg hermits, Mexican Turbo snail, Cleaner Shrimp, Sand Sifting Star, Feather Duster, Button Polyps, Toadstool Mushroom Leather, Green Flower Pot, Mushrooms.

    Juwel 125L: 150w 14k MH, Deltec MCE300, D-D PO4 Reactor + reef scientific, Seachem Purigen, 2x 3000LPH wave makers, Hydor external 200w heater, TMC V2 Vecton 200, TMC V2 Auto topup Plus, 14KG Indo rock, 11KG coral sand, D-D H2Ocean Pro+ Salt.

She's lovely. Gets very excited when she can smell her food defrosting striking through the glass but otherwise not a problem with her. I got her when she was 10 months old and was pretty feisty back then but it was mostly all hiss. Boas tend to get much calmer as they grow. I'm guessing yours is probably quite young?

This was mine when I got her in Feb 2011

She's now over 6' and 1 year, 10 months old. You've seen the pic already but it's a nice size comparison. This was taken in December.

I tried to get her off strike feeding due to her size and for safety, this worked for a while but now she's back to striking for her food so I just have to watch my fingers and be quick.

Yeah got him Monday as a present he is around 5 foot Mark. Don't like the stuff in viv being touched. He hasn't hissed handling him but hissed when I changed his water. There fascinating snakes I'm happy I went with the boa and not the Burmese python I wanted.

I love Burmese too but realistically a Burmese would have been too much for me to handle (size & weight) so I settled on a common boa.

Do you have any pictures of your boa and how you keep him? Is this your first snake?

Had 3 royals a corn, 2 water dragons a Bosc monitor. Cut down though. He's in a 5x2x2 viv temporarily. Will upload pics later as on my iPod.

Yeah RFUK for advice and try to ignore the arguments and don't get drawn in to any. What I would say is don't rely on any advice you might get from a pet shop. If you get any advice from one then double check with other people before handing over any money.

If you're only looking for one snake then ignore any talk of "beginner snakes" and look into the one that really takes your fancy.
