Though it was about time I made a tank thread on here after lurking on the forum for ages.
I started the set up about 2 years ago but just after starting my circumstances changed and a house move was imminent so after the inital setup very little was done. I've only really started on the tank properly since I moved house. Progress so far below with a few piccys and details.
Tank
- 4' x 2' x 2' with a corner weir with 2 standpipes.
- 3' x 18'' x 18'' sump. Sump contains 4 sections, 1st section contains bio-balls
, 2nd section Miracle Mud and Chaeto, 3rd contains more bio-balls
and last section contains skimmer, phosphate reactor, heaters and return pump. - Tank & sump capacity is roughly 700 litres before displacement. DIsplay contains 40Kg live rock.
Equipment
- Aqua Medic Oceanrunner OR3500 return pump
- Aqua Medic Turboflotor Multi SL skimmer with Oceanrunner PH2500 pump
- Aqua Medic SP3000 Niveaumat Auto Top Up system with Maxi Jet PH MP600
- TLF Phosban Reactor 150 with Maxi Jet PH MP600 powerhead running Rowaphos
- Hydor Koralia 4 powerhead
- Vortech MP40W
- RO-MAN 50GPD 4 stage RO unit
Lighting
- Started with 4 T5's in the hood initially but over the last few months I've acquired several Aquaray LED's, a mixture of 2nd hand and new units.
1 x TMC Aquaray Aquabeam 500 duo MarineWhite
1 x Aquaray Marine White 600 duo
2 x Aquaray Reef Blue 600 duo
3 x Aquabeam Marine White 1000 HD tiles
1 x Aquabeam Reef White 1000 HD tile
Fish
- 1 Regal Tang
- 2 Domino Damsels - They gotta go, they keep killing any new additions so haven't been able to add fish for a while. Evil sods have already killed a yellow tang, leopard wrasse, false gramma and a cleaner wrasse.
- 1 Common Clown
- 1 Coral Beauty
Corals
- Zoas
- Mushrooms
- Toadstools
- Sponge
- GSP
- Acan
- Ricordea
- Trachy
- Lobo
- Frogspawn
- Hammerhead
- Torch
- Cat
- Chalice
CUC
- 1 Peppermint shrimp - Was 2 originally but only ever see one so presume the other one is MIA.
- 2 Cleaner shrimps
- Various snails
- Various hermits
- Marbled starfish
Enough details, here are the pics.
New tank in place

Sump after all pipework complete

Nice & clean looking

Wet !!!!

1st aquascape

1st corals gone in

Fish added and a few more corals, coraline coming along nicely

So that's how it stayed for a while until the house move. It was a real pain having to move the tank and the removal men weren't too happy when they arrived but it got moved in the end. The fish went back to the shop until after the move, I only lost one Chromis.
These were taken well after the move and show the progress up to today.

Not sure about the scaping at the moment, may have a change around.
Well that's it for now, let me know what you think (good or bad !!)
