Hi everyone.
Well to cut a long story short I really wanted to buy a tank from PaulScott...however my girlfriend kept making up excuses for us not to go and get it etc. Turns out she was bidding on one on ebay and has now won it so I am picking it up tomorrow.
It's a juwel vision 180 but was only a cheap one as it's got no stand/lid etc. she just wanted a little project for me. It means though I will have to test my DIY skills
Firstly I need a lid for this, so does anybody have one knocking about like their original one before upgrading to halides or something? What I plan on doing firstly is to find an original lid and take out the t8's and replace the whole lighting unit with a t5 one.
My second job will be to add a sump, just a smallish one with miracle mud and cheato in it...will use the original t8's for the sump lights.
Will then go about building a stand as best I can and try and keep it inkeeping with the colours of the room (not really thought of this in detail at all yet)
will keep updating as I go along and will get my first pics up tomorrow hopefully.

Re: My new tank (gonna be a slow one so bare with it)
Well picked it up yesterday and I am really happy with it. I am needing a lid and light for it but will get one eventually. Looking at the flaps and they are around £30 so thinking I will prob just be able to make my own and might be easier to customise this way. I do need a 3 foot light unit though to go in the middle of these custom flaps. Was thinking t5's and thinking of putting sum cheap blue led's in for moonlights.
I am not going to sump it straight away because of room but plan on doing in the next few months and just using an overflow box to feed to the sump. Wasn't keen on drilling the tank myself anyway really.
well thats all I have to update for now.

Sounds like it all coming together nicely

Just an option for the lighting, you could get a second hand 1m arcadia 4 tube unit to sit on the tank, thus not needing the flaps? did this for my neighbours tank & looks the biz.
