Default It got better but onwards and sideways

Hi Salty folk, figured now that my tanks actually looking quite good I would do a new write up about what's where and why.

The Dimensions in inches and volume in litres

Tank 120 length 30 front to back and 24 deep 1415 litresSump 60 length 24 front to back and 18 deep 424 litresTotal system volume 1839 litres

    The Tank

After using external filters then overflow boxes for a while I ended up drilling it on both side panels with a 55mm drill bit while the tank was set up.

    The Sump

From right to left---- inlet, bubble trap, DSB, chaeto, equipment section, return. The return is a 10,000lph pond pump.

    Lighting

Aqua one MG1000 and Aqua One MG1200. Both units are twin 150w halides with 4 compact T5 bulbs in each.Sump light is a lamp from B&Q with an enviro-light bulb.

    Filtration

In the display tank there is over 300kg of rock, a mix of live rock that I have had for years in different systems, new live rock and reef bones and plates. After using plenty of Phosphate removing media such as JBL phosex and rowaphos I got my phosphates down and now let the chaeto do the job.I have a large DSB which is keeping my nitrates under control.I run 2 skimmers one is a red sea c-skim 1800 and the other is a TMC V2 400. The 400 is used to run my ozone unit which is an aqua digital unit and runs for 90 minutes every 4 hours at a low setting to just polish the water.Water Circulation There are 3 x 12,000lph circulation pumps, 2 are on constantly and the other is on a time with my halides so they both come on at the same time and the flow is reduced at night. There is also a polario 22ml in the centre of the tank to make sure there are no dead spots.

    Water Supplementation

TMC V2 React 1500 with approx 6kg of reef bone media (mixed)

not good guys, they were struggling in mine (light issues me thinks!) so I gave them to mother dearest! I should have a sump up and running next week so I can put my heater in there and remove the cover from my tank and get more light in the tank.

Heres hoping that sorts things out! Hows the fishies? Hawaiin wrasse still awsome?
