Eventual size can be a major draw back with these comical characters as well as their varied diet and a risk of taking a fancy to corals.....Not a fan of high flow either preferring a more gentle turn over than most reef tanks. Saying this some may have tried them with success similar to your own, and others , success with the "non reef safe" valentini puffer

It is the comical character that i like them for, space should not be a problem for him its just the horror storys regarding them picking at corals and nipping at other live stock that troubles me...

You may want to read this. I do know of one reefkeeper who had a tank wipeout due to a cowfish.

To be honest with you....I wouldnt think too much about the whole tank wipe out thing.

I keep boxfish/cowfish. I have 3 at the moment all together. A longhorn, Cubicus and a dalmation and havent had any problems.

Ive also unfortunately witnessed 2 deaths including a longhorn and a spiny boxfish. Neither released ostracitoxin or tetratoxin and were happy characters.

I cant really talk about corals as Im pretty much fish only, however Ive just bought a small plate with some zoas on and theyve been fine in the tank.

After keeping one, I couldnt imagine a tank without one. Mine follows me around the tank, loves his food and will quite happily spit water at me if I dont get the food in quick enough!

Lovely little characters but they do grow large...and quickly. Be prepared to be looking at 1000l setups quickly.

    Just my 2p worth
