    Default acrylic or glass?

Ive got a tank which I want to put a seperate chamber in, to hide equipment etc. It would essentially be like a large wier, with a comb on one end, and a return pump on the other to circulate the water through it.

It would be the full width of the tank - much like a baffle in a sump.

I've read about perspex/acrylic expanding/contracting differently than glass, so my question is - do I need to get a piece of glass cut to size, or could I just use perspex?

I would have glass cut for it over perspex anyday.

main point being silicone will not stick that well to perspex and would not last the test of time.

I would use glass but then get some black/ blue acrylic to make a removable cover
