finally got discus fry well happy pics added now

Hi all thought I would mention my young pair of discus from other thread have been laying eggs. And finally got fry of 2 week old so fingers crossed . I new to discus so any advice is welcomed . Check other thread out for pics of parents and will add pics as babys grow .

Never raised Discus Fry personally, but the theory is lots of food and lots of water changes in addition to a higher than average temperature to grow them on well at a fast pace without stunting. The normal advice is clenlyness is the main consideration until they get past a couple of inches (i.e. water changes and detritus syphons)

cheers pal ive had another 2 more fry and they have laid again tonight so fingers crossed get some more there a young pair so still not 100 % in doing it right sometimes they not letting fry feed off them and last lot had over 100 wrigglers but all died befor coming free swimming

Congratulations and well done. We breed discus, what we do is for the first week let the fry feed from the parents, then we start gradually adding a samll amount of brine shrimps eggs, we hatch our own little and often we can feed our sometimes 10 time aday, do lots of water changes, and when they are feeding well on these then we will move them to a seperate tank we have air filters as this stops the fry from getting sucked into power filters, the thing is not to keep them in with the parents too long as otherwise they will start damaging the parents as the bigger they grow and the still will feed of the parents mucus and can damage the parents. it can also depend on the parents some of our will care for them for over a month and other will only look after for about a week or two, also as they start getting bigger we will add different food in like rofiters, daphinia, brine shrimp, also we feed our beef heart. We keep our water temp at 82. also the parents are kept in neat RO, and when we move the babies they are also kept in neat RO, but then we will gradually get them to 3/4 Ro and 1/4 HMA water, we had alot of failures to start of with it, even when we had the fry, as we found after about a month we lots a few of them and still do, but we are gradually getting more sucessful. enjoys watching them grow and good luck
