Hi guys, thought some of you may be interested in this review - I found this new pump to the UK listed on ebay - seller is Simplyaquaria, and the guy selling has set up a new business in the UK.
I paid £195 delivered (£215 if you buy from ebay, but once you find the pump, follow his link to his website). It is shipped from the UK, next day delivery and the seller is offering a full 12 months UK warranty!!
So first impressions are the doser is very nicely packaged with everything described included - see pictures below.
I must say that I am impressed with the quality of the unit but also, the quality of the user manual - it is very understandable!!
Setup is as easy as it gets, plug in power and wait a few seconds for it to load.
To setup:
The unit is very easy to set up and I was up and running in minutes.
Fist I checked the calibration of the pumps - each pump can be calibrated separately, and the calibration of each pump was spot on.
Minimum dispense volume is 1ml, and maximum depends on the mode of operation.
1. Auto dose - Basically you set the volume you want dispensed per day (24hrs) (2,999ml) and then set the number of doses per day (max 24). The doser automatically calculates the dose required each dose time - nice!!!
You then set the start time - hour only i.e. 18:00 not 18:05 etc. This is because there is a delay function that can be set for each pump to prevent chemical interference. I set the delay between pumps to 10 mins. Then when I went to set the start time for pump 2, I set the start time 18:00 and it automatically added 10 mins to it, so start time was 18:10.
In this mode there is no chance of 2 or more pumps running at the same time.
2. Custom Dose - In this mode you set the number of doses (max 10) and the then set the exact time you want to start each dose and the amount of dose (max 9,999ml). In this mode it is possible to set up to 3 pumps to dose at the same time.
3. Manual dose - basically used for priming of the lines.
Overall impression:
The unit seems very well made. The unit is very easy to use! The pumps are quiet. The accuracy seems very good and consistent.
Also, I checked that if power is lost, it does retain it settings, which it does!!!
Lastly, as you will see on the pictures below of the rear, the doser can easily be extend to more channels (max 15) by the connection of additional 4 channel slave units by a single cable which supplies signal and power.
So my overall review:
For £195 shipped from the UK with a 12 months UK warranty, I think this unit is well worth it and I would highly recommend it to anyone!!!
Any questions, please ask!!
