Now this is a bargain basement skimmer, cheapest i could find, and for aquariums up to 120ltrs, was more than enough for the 65ltr tank we already had...

first things first.... to be fair, it does the job, no doubt about that, when its set and left alone it pulls loads of crap out of the water and deposits it in the easy to empty receptacle.

Two problems..

problem one... noise.... it isn't the quietest, but then again, i bought the cheapest

problem two... air bubbles!!!!! when left running during the day, it spoils the view of everything, micro fine bubbles work there way through the skimmer flow and are ejected into the tank making it appear quite murky!!!

adjustment is made via an exit gate that restricts the flow of water out of the skimmer, any attempt to reduce this flow to a point where it doesn't cloud the water, fills the cup in about 30 second!!

attempts at reducing the amount of water it takes in, are successful in reducing the clouding but also reduce the ability to actually remove any crap from the tank!!

will sort out some pictures tomorrow so you can see what I'm on about, but you may have to bare with me due to my lack of ability and a distinctly average camera!!
