This starfish needs a large very mature aquarium with ample supplies of live rock. Small specimens will eat algae but as they grows older they cease to be reef compatible and will eat soft corals, sponges, tubeworms, clams, smaller starfish, and other invertebrates. They should not be housed with Puffers.
As will all invertibrates this starfish will not tolerate copper and high levels of nitrates.
